Elena SanwickCelebrity Dancer
Prescott has been Elena's hometown since 1999. She and her husband chose Prescott after falling in love with its charm, weather, and abundance of outdoor activities. It has been an amazing community to raise their two children and for her husband to practice medicine. Her son, Zach, is at U of A and daughter, Olivia, is a freshman at Prescott High School. Elena enjoys hiking, yoga, working out, snow skiing, and dancing, of course! Elena is passionate about giving back to such a wonderful community and has proudly served as a grant panel member for Arizona Community Foundation, member of Prescott Area Women Who Care, and board member for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arizona. Elena's mother was a teen mom on welfare, so she understands coming from humble and challenging beginnings. Her mother instilled education to her and her brother as their ticket to a better life. At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arizona, the importance of education, tutoring, citizenship, mentoring, and healthy living is encouraged by their amazing staff and volunteers. BGCCAZ proudly serves a variety of families from dual income, single parent, and foster children. After being a stay at home mom for 17 years, Elena is now a REALTOR® at BloomTree Realty in Prescott. She loves her new career choice because it is social and she is able to help people with their real estate needs. Elena is very excited and honored to be part of Dancing for the Stars. It is a wonderful way to share her passion for BGCCAZ and help raise money. The demand continues to increase with a new multi-media program at Prescott High School, a satellite club in Chino Valley, and expansion of the Prescott Valley Clubhouse, so children do not have to be on a wait list. Elena appreciates your support, generosity, and especially your VOTES!!! Thank you for making this a successful fundraiser! Enjoy the show!
Daniel was born and raised in Prescott and graduated from Tri- City Prep High School before moving to Flagstaff to attend Northern Arizona University. At NAU, he completed a BS in Biology and a Wildlife Management and Ecology Certificate. He has since worked and volunteered at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary. While at NAU, Daniel acquired an interest in the local Latin social dance scene and quickly became a fixture and eventual officer of the NAU Latin Dance Club. While visiting home for the summer in 2012 he realized the void in Prescott when it came to a social Latin Dance scene. He decided to remedy this by hosting weekly dance classes and socials on the patio of The Taj Mahal Restaurant for the summer. Upon graduating in December of 2013 he returned to Prescott and decided to set up the classes on a more permanent basis. So in the spring of 2014 he started Downtown Latin Dance and began teaching free classes in Salsa and Bachata at The Taj Mahal Restaurant. Today he teaches regular classes at The Taj Mahal every Wednesday and The Elks Performing Arts Center every Sunday.
